Discover Santorini’s Red Beach

The Red Beach is characterized by its distinctive red shore and is a special destination where the deep blue sea beautifully blends with the surroundings, creating a mesmerizing landscape etched in your memory. Located in the southeastern part of the island, in the Akrotiri area, approximately 8 km from Fira.

Read beach is an amount of red and black mountain (a result of volcanic activity), dark blue crystal waters, underwater hot springs and a contrast of red sand with black pebbles. All these elements contribute to a unique and striking landscape. Despite its popularity, it offers limited space for personal equipment, with a few sunbeds and umbrellas available. For essential needs such as coffee and snacks, there are two canteens on the beach, along with fruit vendors. 

How easy is it to visit the Red Beach?

Accessing the beach can be done in three ways. Firstly, with your own or rented vehicle, follow the road to Akrotiri, turn right at the archaeological site, and park at the chapel of Aghio Nikolas. From there, continue on foot along a relatively challenging path for about 10 minutes.

Another option is to take a boat from Akrotiri, Kamari, or Perissa, with a ticket cost of 5€. Lastly, you can use the Santorini bus from Fira to Akrotiri (beach) with a ticket cost of €2.
