How to get to Rhodes?

By boat: Ferries from Piraeus to Rhodes operate regularly and are run by several ferry companies. The journey can take anywhere from 12 to 17 hours, depending on the service chosen (conventional ferry vs. high-speed/catamaran). Overnight journeys are common, which can be a good way to save on a night’s accommodation. You can book cabins or airline-style seats for the journey. It’s advisable to book your tickets in advance, especially during the peak tourist season (summer months), as ferries can fill up quickly.

By plane: During the summer period, there are daily flights from Athens’s Eleftherios Venizelos Airport and other major airports. The journey from Athens takes approximately 1 hour. Rhodes Airport, officially known as “Diagoras” is located approximately 14 kilometers from the capital city of Rhodes.

Remember to bring your driver’s license, and be aware that an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for non-EU residents.

By bus/KTEL: The public bus service in Rhodes is reliable and covers most tourist destinations, including beaches, towns, and historical sites. Buses are an economical way to travel, with frequent connections between Rhodes Town and popular areas like Lindos, Faliraki, and Kallithea. Timetables and routes can be found at the main bus station in Rhodes Town or online.

By taxi: Taxis are widely available in Rhodes and can be a convenient option, especially for shorter distances or when public transport is not available.
