Santorini’s diverse landscape continues with the Black Beach, known as Perissa, where the volcanic and lava activity is unmistakable. Perissa, is located in the southeast end of the island, boasts a stretch of approximately 7 kilometers, making it the largest beach in Santorini.
The varying shades of grey and black create a lunar landscape of unique beauty that harmonizes perfectly with the crystal-clear waters, recognized with a prestigious blue flag. Despite its natural allure, the beach is also well-organized and popular. You can find sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bars, water sports facilities, a water park, a beach volleyball court, a diving school, and seaside tavernas. Additionally, for those looking to stay, there is an organized camping available on Perissa Beach.
Perissa Beach is connected to Perivolos. In this area you can find numerous nightclubs, restaurants, taverns, and cafes, catering to visitors throughout the day and into the early hours of the morning.
How easy is it to visit?
Access to the beach is convenient, whether by bus from Fira or with your own vehicle. Keep in mind that it may take you a while until you find a parking due to limited space and crowds, but afterwards it’s a manageable feat. In the village, you’ll find a mini-market and various shops offering clothing, souvenirs, and other essentials.
